This is a magnificent vintage Chinese Huali (Rosewood) Brush Pot, a classic element of traditional Chinese scholar's desk objects.
The piece is crafted in a faceted (hexagonal/octagonal) shape, displaying the beautiful, natural wood grain. It is elaborately adorned with aged brass or copper mounts on the top and bottom edges, featuring traditional Ruyi cloud patterns. Each mount is accented with vibrant, cabochon-cut gemstones in red and turquoise green, adding a regal, almost Tibetan-inspired richness to the piece.
Weighing nearly 4 lbs, it is substantial and sturdy.
