This is a beautiful vintage Chinese Huali (Rosewood) box, featuring a classic slide-lid design and impeccable traditional craftsmanship (evident in the fine dovetail joints on the sides).
The lid is decorated with exquisite Mother-of-Pearl (MOP) inlay, depicting the auspicious motif of "Dragon and Phoenix Bringing Prosperity". A vibrant green dragon and a golden phoenix face each other across a central flaming pearl, symbolizing perfect harmony, marital bliss, and good fortune. The vivid colors and iridescence of the inlay contrast beautifully against the rich, dark grain of the wood.
This box is incredibly versatile. It is the perfect size for storing tea, jewelry, playing cards, or small keepsakes. It makes a wonderful accent piece for a coffee table, desk, or nightstand, and is a thoughtful, meaningful gift that brings a touch of classic Chinoiserie elegance to any home.
