Measuring an impressive 12.5 inches in diameter, this mid-20th-century showpiece features an intricate, hand-embellished layout rooted in traditional Arita-yaki pottery design.
The center medallion anchors the composition with vibrant, stylized red peonies and delicate surrounding blossoms encased in a scalloped ruyi-cloud border. Radiating outward, the plate is divided into contrasting geometric panels that feature meticulous navy blue karakusa (scrollwork vines), diagonal grid diaper patterns, and colorful blossoms. Lavish, hand-painted gilt (gold paint) accents trace the floral contours and ring the rim, catching light elegantly from every angle. The smooth white reverse side is clean and unbranded, a classic indicator of late-century Japanese export giftware.
