A classic Stressless lounge chair and matching ottoman by J.E. Ekornes A/S of Ikornnes, Norway, dating to the 1980s. This is the earlier, more collectible generation of the design: sculptural laminated bentwood ring bases on both pieces, deeply buttoned black leather cushions, and the distinctive floating headrest suspended on a slim steel stem.

Ekornes introduced the Stressless in 1971 and it became the definitive Scandinavian ergonomic lounge chair — a patented reclining mechanism that pivots the seat and back in balance, paired with a full 360° swivel. It remains genuinely comfortable in a way few vintage lounge chairs are.
The warm bentwood bases play beautifully against the black leather, and the low, rounded profile suits a mid-century, Scandinavian, or contemporary interior equally well.
