Charming antique French footstool featuring a beautifully carved hardwood frame with graceful cabriole legs, foliate and scroll carving, shaped apron, and scrolled feet. The stool retains a padded upholstered seat covered in an ornate dark woven tapestry featuring scrolling foliate/paisley motifs. The warm wood has developed an attractive aged patina and natural surface wear consistent with age. A handsome example of traditional French Louis XV/Provincial furniture, suitable as a footstool, vanity stool, fireside stool, or decorative accent.
It measures 23 inches long, 17.5 inches wide, and 11 inches tall.

It looks like the joints have been shored up in the past and if you look very closely, you can still see small gaps where some of the joinery comes together. I think we a bit of time and attention the stool could be restored to perfection. less
