Charming and atmospheric original oil on canvas depicting a picturesque European mountain lake with an island villa, small boats, stone-lined shoreline and dramatic Alpine peaks rising in the distance.
Signed lower left “Jules Kravetz” or similar and dated 1948. The painting displays a wonderful naïve/folk-art quality, with expressive handling of the mountainous landscape, tranquil blue-green water and finely rendered architectural and shoreline details. The prominent trees framing the right side give the composition considerable depth.
SThe work remains on its original-style wooden stretcher and is presented unframed, allowing the buyer to select a frame appropriate to their interior. A particularly decorative mid-20th-century landscape with an appealing European Grand Tour character.
