An extraordinary and highly important Arts & Crafts period pottery vase produced at Newcomb College in New Orleans, Louisiana, dated 1911. Masterfully potted by Joseph Meyer and hand-carved with exceptional detail by renowned Newcomb artist Anna Frances Simpson.
The vessel features a gracefully tapered baluster form decorated with a low-relief carved floral motif of yellow Jonquils (Daffodils) on long leafy stems against a soft matte blue-green background. Fully marked on the underside with the impressed Newcomb College cipher ("NC"), artist's cipher ("AFS"), potter's mark ("JM"), and registration date code. A museum-quality investment piece for collectors of American Arts & Crafts pottery and Southern decorative arts.
