This is a magnificent vintage Chinese bronze sculpture of a mythical beast or hound, designed in the style of ancient Warring States period bronzes. The animal is depicted in a dynamic, crouching or leaping posture, with a long, slender body, fierce open mouth, and an elegantly curled tail.
The most striking feature of this piece is the intricate gold inlay (Cuojin) covering its body. The swirling cloud and geometric motifs are meticulously inlaid into the bronze, creating a beautiful contrast against the dark, aged metal. The bronze has developed a gorgeous, uneven patina over time, showing deep browns, rust reds, and hints of green verdigris.
