An exceptional example of mid-century modern Scandinavian glass art, this miniature organically sculpted "Selena" series bowl was designed by the legendary Sven Palmqvist for Orrefors in Sweden during the mid-1950s.
This particular piece is highly sought after by collectors for its specialized opalescent glass formulation. Unlike standard clear crystal variants, this bowl has a gorgeous luminous "milky opal" mist built directly into the glass chemistry, meticulously engineered by Palmqvist to mimic natural moonlit glow ("Selena" named after the Greek moon goddess). When placed in ambient lighting, the thick edges scatter light with a subtle, fiery shift.
Thick-walled, fluid, and brilliantly tactile, it is scaled beautifully as a luxury pocket trinket catchall, vanity bowl, or individual salt cellar. The piece is cleanly hand-engraved "Orrefors" on the polished pontil base. Pristine vintage condition with zero scratches, flea bites, or water clouding.
