This dynamic abstract work depicts gray paint punctuated with orange, blue, and red against a white background. Displayed in a wooden frame with a linen inlay, this piece is signed to the lower edge.

Born in Poland, Mintz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, graduating from there in 1927. In 1934, he immigrated to the United States. During the 1930s, Mintz was a part of the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project. He taught at the Washington University of St. Louis, as well as at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Mintz's works are part of collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Brooklyn Museum, the Princeton University Art Museum, among others. See less
