Offered is a pair of handcrafted carved and lathed burl wood abstract animal figurines - possibly pigs, hedgehogs, or hippos.
There are no maker's marks or labels, however, they resemble some of the animals Deborah Hump used to carve although she tended to make puzzle boxes with stash drawers. The burl wood grain is known for its unusual and chaotic grain with swirling patterns and tiny knots. No two pieces are alike. Craftsmen employ it for high-end furniture, luxury automobile interiors, musical instruments and decorative objects.
