Striking vintage decorative ginger jar by Castilian, crafted in India and retaining its original “Castilian – Made in India” label on the underside.
The piece features a substantial clear glass body with an organic, hand-worked appearance and beautiful movement throughout the glass. Elaborate antiqued brass-tone metalwork surrounds the base, shoulder and removable lid, incorporating scrolling foliate motifs and classical detailing. The lid is finished with a decorative finial.
The combination of heavy clear glass and richly detailed metal mounts gives the piece an Old World, European-inspired appearance characteristic of decorative furnishings imported from India during the late 20th century.
An impressive statement piece for a console, mantel, bookcase, entryway or collected traditional interior. Particularly well suited to Hollywood Regency, Traditional, Grandmillennial, French Provincial and Old World interiors.
Original Castilian label remains affixed to the underside and identifies the piece as Made in India.
