This vibrant vertical composition depicts an abundant arrangement of white, coral-pink and lavender flowers accented by deep green fern-like foliage. Two dramatic white spider-mum-style blossoms anchor the arrangement, while tall white flowering stems create an elegant architectural quality against the soft powder-blue background.
Downs used expressive, dimensional brushwork throughout, with areas of pronounced impasto and raised texture that give the flowers and foliage considerable visual depth.
