A French Shagreen and Silver Aide Memoire with Ballooning Motif, circa 1790, having shagreen outer case with watercolor scene of balloon ascension over port to one cartouche, lid bearing pierced D'AMITIÉ to standard, watercolor portrait of female to other cartouche, interior with folio insert.
Size: 3 1/4 inches high by 2 1/8 inches wide (8.3 x 5.4 cm)
Condition: Some flaking and light seam separation to shagreen veneer. Watercolors with toning. Balloon scenery with yellowing of lacquer overlay. Errant scratching. Presenting well with wear commensurate with age and use.
