This is a magnificent and substantial vintage Chinese Cloisonné (Jingtai Lan) incense burner, weighing nearly 6 lbs. The bowl features a classic, rounded profile with a wide mouth and a flat base.
The exterior is richly decorated in traditional turquoise enamel with scrolling clouds, framing a fierce, coiling Red Dragon flying across the body. The top rim features a band of Ruyi (cloud) patterns.
The most striking feature is the pair of heavy, detailed Tiger Head (or Beast Face) handles made of darkened bronze, each with a hinged ring suspended from the mouth. The exposed bronze on the rim and base shows a gorgeous, aged patina.
Due to its immense weight and commanding presence, this piece serves as an incredible centerpiece for a dining table, a display shelf, or a traditional incense corner. A true statement piece of Chinese Metalwork and Chinoiserie decor.
