The figure is seated in the full lotus position (Dhyana Asana) upon a beautifully detailed double lotus throne, with hands resting in the Dhyana Mudra (meditation gesture).

The Buddha features a serene, downcast expression, tightly curled hair, and elongated earlobes. The sculpture is elaborately decorated with polychrome painting (red and green robes) and gold gilding on the face, hands, and chest (featuring the auspicious 卍 symbol).
