Presenting a charming and beautifully aged vintage Chinese ceramic headrest (pillow) molded in the shape of a reclining cat. Crafted in the mid-20th century (circa 1950s, early PRC era) by a folk kiln, this piece features a rich Sancai (three-color) glaze in warm amber-browns, vibrant greens, and creamy whites.

The cat lies in a relaxed, elongated posture, ideal for use as a traditional ceramic headrest—historically believed to promote cooling and better sleep. It features a detailed, hand-carved expression with gentle eyes and whiskers, and the back is adorned with a beautifully enameled green saddle blanket decorated with a stylized floral butterfly motif.

The piece boasts a stunning, natural crazing (crackle glaze) effect across its surface, showing a beautiful patina and subtle iridescence (mother-of-pearl effect) that only develops over decades. The unglazed base and certain extremities (chin, paws, tail) show expected wear, exposing the earthy terracotta body underneath.

Condition: Good vintage condition with an antique feel. The glaze is beautiful with intense natural crazing. There is significant, natural surface wear, glaze loss, and chips on the paws, chin, and base edges, consistent with age and actual use. No major structural cracks found.
