The delicate botanical illustration depicts flowering heather in soft shades of lavender, pink, green and brown, including a detailed study of an individual blossom.

The print is presented within a wide charcoal-black mat that provides a dramatic contrast to both the delicate botanical image and the richly ornamented frame. The antique frame features elaborate raised floral and scrolling decoration with an aged silver-toned finish. Areas of natural wear and variation in the finish give the frame the wonderful depth and patina expected of an antique piece.

The accompanying French botanical text identifies the illustration as Planche 129 and describes the plant as Calluna vulgaris, family Ericaceae. The print dates from a 1970's French folio of botanical prints. The combination of the scholarly botanical illustration, dark mat and exuberant Victorian frame gives the piece a collected, one-of-a-kind character.
