This distinctive vessel combines a warm copper body with contrasting brass decorative elements throughout. The sculptural design features an applied dragon motif on the body, an elaborately decorated curved spout, ornate handle, engraved floral and foliate detailing, and a tall architectural lid topped by a pointed finial.
A particularly charming original detail is the decorative metal chain connecting the lid to the handle, designed to keep the lid attached to the vessel.
The copper retains a rich, naturally aged patina with variations in tone, oxidation and surface wear that beautifully emphasize the character of the piece. The brass elements have likewise developed an attractive mellow patina rather than a highly polished finish.
Traditional Himalayan vessels of this general form are often identified as Tibetan or Nepalese ceremonial ewers and decorative teapots.
