Large Vintage Asian Black Lacquer Box with Mother of Pearl Inlay & Calligraphy
This striking Asian black lacquer decorative box showcases exceptional artisan craftsmanship. Generously sized, the lid features a highly detailed mother-of-pearl inlay depicting a traditional still-life composition of late-blooming chrysanthemums in an elegant vase alongside stylized bronze-form vessels. Classical cursive calligraphy accents the upper right corner, celebrating resilience and the lingering fragrance of autumn.
The exterior borders are heavily detailed with iridescent geometric and floral diaper-pattern bands, complemented by scrolling floral vines and birds decorating the side facades. This versatile, substantial piece makes a sophisticated statement box for a coffee table, library shelf, or dresser.
