## Description

A cheerful vintage cast iron doorstop from the 1940s, cast in the form of a white pitcher overflowing with hand-painted yellow sunflowers and deep green leaves. The sunflowers are rendered in high relief with dimensional petals and pronounced seed centers, giving the piece real sculptural presence. The original paint has aged beautifully — soft craquelure across the white pitcher, warm patina along the rim, and small honest losses that speak to decades of use and sunlight. This is not a repaint; the surface is entirely original.

Found at an estate sale on Nantucket, where cast iron doorstops like this one were a staple of summer cottage life — propping open screen doors to let in the sea air.
