Each pail specifically designated for a different item, it would have hung over the wash basin for easy reach and could have been used in the kitchen or the laundry.
Sand - would have been used to scour heavy grime
soap - likely would have been a paste or solid to dissolve in water
soda - would have been used to soften water and/or cut grease.

With the blue and white paint and gold accents, would have been both functional and beautiful!
It measures 14.5"W x 6"T. Each cup is 4" in diameter. There is a hole at both top corners for hanging. No major damage, although there is some wear to the enamel and paint in various places, appropriate for age and use.
