The simplicity of design and minimal decoration allows the beauty of the materials and the exquisite craftsmanship to shine. The lid opens on iron strap hinges to reveal a deep and wide storage compartment that makes it versatile for an entryway, hall, or mudroom. One could even use it as a traditional "footlocker" placed at the end of a bed. The metal lock is intact, but the key has been lost to time. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain this cherished antique for future generations. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
