This is a spectacular vintage Chinese Liu Li (colored glass) statue of the Laughing Buddha (Maitreya). A unique feature of this piece is that it is a double-sided carving, with an identical Buddha depicted on both front and back, making it a perfect centerpiece that can be viewed from any angle.
The Buddha is depicted with a joyful expression, a large belly, and holding a golden Ruyi scepter and prayer beads. The piece is elaborately hand-painted with striking blue, green, red, and gold accents, set against a black glass background. Behind the figure is a radiant, multi-colored halo with ribbed texture, adding depth and energy to the piece. It rests on a double lotus base with gold-painted petals.
Measuring just under 4 inches tall, this is a charming and colorful accent piece for a desk, altar, bookshelf, or as a good luck gift. Its translucent glass material catches the light beautifully, making it a true mini-masterpiece of Chinese craftsmanship.
