After acquiring this table, I was immediately struck by its exceptional weight, construction and meticulous attention to detail. With no visible maker's mark, its unusual charcoal surface initially made the piece something of a mystery.

After extensive research, the mystery has been solved: this is the Elba Side Table by Sylvan S.F.

The design is documented by Sylvan S.F. as model 1050-PC, constructed with a structural body mantled in luxurious hand-dyed parchment goatskin, protected beneath a deep high-gloss resin glaze. A subtle metallic brass detail encircles the center of the pedestal, while the top is finished in beautifully polished colored resin.

The result is remarkable. Depending on the light, the charcoal parchment has extraordinary visual depth and can initially appear almost like polished stone, lacquer or smoked translucent material. Up close, the organic character of the parchment becomes apparent beneath the glossy resin finish.

The sculptural pedestal has a beautifully architectural silhouette, with a faceted central body, stepped base and contrasting metallic detail. It is exceptionally substantial and beautifully constructed from every angle.

The manufacturer's documented dimensions for the Elba are approximately 18.5 inches in diameter × 24 inches high.
