One of the most extraordinary and decorative models that goldscheider ever has produced: depiction of an exotic dancer standing upright, … Read more One of the most extraordinary and decorative models that goldscheider ever has produced: depiction of an exotic dancer standing upright, leaning slightly backward and looking to the right, wearing a minimalist bustier and a narrow loincloth, connected by a wide sash that falls down the center to her knees; on her short, brown hair, a pink-and-brown-ringed, pointed bonnet; behind the artist, extending from her hips, a large fan resembling a display of peacock feathers in green, blue, and brown, rising high into the air; the graceful woman poses with her left leg slightly drawn up and her right hand outstretched, touching the feathered fan. The figure stands barefoot on a black, stepped, oval pedestal. Designed by paul philippe (1870 - 1930) sculptor; studied at the royal academy of arts in berlin. In 1900 he moved to paris, where he soon lived in les fusains, an artists' colony at the foot of montmartre in the 18th arrondissement and was a pupil of antonin larreux ’(1859–1913). From 1902 to 1909 he exhibited at the salons of the société des artistes français in paris. Goldscheider made several of his art nouveau and art deco figures. Model 5405 was created and made around 1924/25.
