A striking pair of vintage cut crystal biscuit barrels, each featuring a rich cobalt blue overlay over clear crystal and a wheel-cut with intricate cane, hobstar and geometric decoration.

The crystal bodies are fitted with polished silver-plated rims, removable lids and elegant swing handles. The vivid cobalt blue overlay creates a beautiful contrast against the clear cut crystal, while the star-cut bases further demonstrate the quality and detail of the workmanship.

Decorative as well as functional, the pair can be used as biscuit barrels, bonbon jars, tea caddies or small ice buckets. Their matching form and brilliant cobalt colour make them particularly attractive displayed together.

The deep cutting, saturated colour and silver-plated mounts are characteristic of the decorative European overlay crystal produced during the mid-20th century.

Good vintage condition overall.
One biscuit barrel is in very good condition, both jars are free from cracks and repairs. The silver-plated lid, rim and handle show only light age-related wear consistent use.

One biscuit barrel has several small chips and minor surface marks to the crystal at places, please see the additional photographs for detail. These are not immediately noticeable when the piece is displayed.
