An exceptional and rare find for these traditional equestrian-inspired works of art.
This is a complete, unbroken set of four antique 1900 chromolithograph prints from the celebrated "The Fallowfield Hunt" series by renowned British sporting artist and illustrator Cecil Aldin (1870–1935).Perfect for a stately home library, a moody dining room, or a traditional gentleman's study, this cohesive set is preserved in its authentic, untouched Edwardian presentation.
Each piece retains its original solid wood frame with gilding, and original wood backing boards with time-aged rusty nails and fragments of antique newspaper within. Fresh paper has just been lightly placed over the wood to protect each. Complete, unaltered sets from this sought-after 1900 print run are increasingly difficult to find on the market today.
This cohesive set beautifully captures the comedic, high-spirited narrative of a traditional English fox hunt:
• The Hunt Breakfast at the Three Pigeons: Raucous huntsmen hurriedly finishing their morning meal as horses and hounds assemble outside the inn.
• Breaking Cover: The sudden burst of energy and excitement as the hounds find the scent and the chase officially begins.
• The Death: The dramatic, traditional climax of a successful day out in the rolling English countryside.
• The Hunt Supper: The celebrated grand finale showing red-coated huntsmen raising a glass in a warm, wood-paneled country manor.
True antique turn-of-the-century chromolithographs displaying rich, iconic "huntsman red" tones and exceptionally sharp character details.
Each print prominently displays the titles, custom carved in the mat, the artist's printed signature and the original 1900 date can be found protected behind mat.
About the Artist: Cecil Charles Windsor Aldin was one of the most prolific and beloved British sporting artists of the 20th century. An enthusiastic sportsman and actual Master of Fox Hounds, Aldin brought unmatched accuracy, humor, and precision to his work. He is globally celebrated for his unique ability to perfectly capture the true personality and movements of horses and hounds. Complete, unbroken series from his early 1900 print runs are increasingly difficult to find on the market today.
