A solid maple workbench, probably dating from the 50's and manufactured by G. Christiansen, Chicago, with a wooden vise at either end, a gallery in the back with a slotted divider for screwdrivers and other tools, and a well in front of that, then a large workspace comprised of butcher block sections of heavy maple. The work space exhibits all of the character of scratches and stains one would expect to see from years of use. One hanging drawer underneath for storage and the entire top rests on a sturdy maple base that is bolted together ending in snowshoe feet. The top locks into place with dowels in the base and dismantles easily for moving.
After years of use, it has been scrubbed clean and given a light coating of shellac to bring up its warm golden color. These make an ideal work space in a kitchen and add a warm character to any room. A real show-stopper.
