The composition features an elegantly dressed young couple beside a stream, surrounded by flowering plants, lush foliage, tall trees and a distant European village and mountain landscape. The gentleman holds a flute or recorder while the woman carries flowers, creating the romantic pastoral imagery associated with 18th-century French decorative arts and the work of artists such as François Boucher.

The central scene is surrounded by an unusually attractive woven border of scrolling acanthus leaves in muted green, rose, cream and brown. The border is part of the tapestry itself rather than an applied frame.

Woven on a Jacquard loom, the tapestry has remarkable detail throughout the figures, clothing, flowers, water and landscape. The palette is particularly appealing, with soft blue, sage green, dusty rose, burgundy, cream, ochre and earthy brown tones that have the subdued appearance associated with vintage European tapestries.

The reverse has been professionally finished with a dark fabric backing.

Believed to date to the mid-20th century, approximately the 1950s–1960s. No maker's label is present, so the exact manufacturer and country of manufacture cannot be confirmed. It is best described as French Aubusson-style rather than as an antique handwoven Aubusson tapestry.
