Elegant early 20th-century Dutch Delft Blue lidded vase, authentically made in Holland and hand-painted in the traditional cobalt-blue and white Delftware palette.
This decorative Delftware ginger jar / temple jar / lidded urn has a classic baluster-shaped body with its original fitted domed lid and finial. The vase is richly decorated with expressive hand-painted floral and foliate motifs, showing visible brushwork and subtle variations in cobalt blue that give it the artisanal character associated with traditional Dutch Delft pottery.
The underside is marked with a Delft crown, together with “Delft – Made in Holland – Handgeschilderd”, meaning hand-painted, and the number 89.
with its substantial 33 cm / 13 inch height, this antique Delft Blue vase makes an impressive statement piece for a console, mantel, sideboard, dining room or curated blue-and-white ceramic collection.
