The rectangular cabinet rests on two curved sides, which stand on splayed bases and are connected by a wide crossbar. A carved beaded molding runs along the bottom edge of the crossbar, the only decorative element that breaks up the otherwise simple form.

The top is a hinged lid that opens backward on brass hinges. The inside of the lid is covered with a vibrant, flamed, mirror-jointed veneer. The cabinet is lockable; the lock is located in the front apron behind a dark keyhole escutcheon, and the key is included.

The interior is divided into compartments: A wide central compartment is flanked on the left and right by narrower compartments, which are further subdivided into smaller sections. This layout reflects the practical purpose of the piece—threads, needles, scissors, and needlework supplies could be stored separately.

The table has been restored and refinished with shellac. It is ready for use.
