The … Read more This dining set was designed by Hans Olsen for the renowned Danish furniture manufacturer Frem Røjle during the 1950s. The set consists of an extending dining table and four chairs and is one of the most recognizable examples of Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design.
The distinctive chairs feature organically shaped triangular seats supported by three slender teak legs. The most characteristic feature of the design is Hans Olsen’s patented solution that allows the chairs to be neatly tucked beneath the tabletop, with their backrests forming an integral part of the table’s edge. This ingenious construction allows the set to occupy minimal space when the chairs are tucked away, while maintaining an exceptionally harmonious and sculptural form. The table features a mechanism designed to facilitate easy extension.
The entire set has undergone comprehensive woodworking and upholstery restoration. The wooden elements were stripped of the old coating, stained in an oak colour, and finished with a durable high-quality semi-matt lacquer. The upholstery interiors have been replaced, and the seats have been reupholstered in high-quality natural black leather.
Both the table and the chairs retain their original maker’s labels, confirming their authenticity and provenance.
