Standing an impressive 40 inches tall, the carved wood element features an elaborate scrolling silhouette with deeply carved foliate ornament and a prominent stylized bird motif. Two hand-forged-style iron arms extend from the carving and terminate in shallow candle cups, while a slender iron support secures the architectural fragment to a substantial square iron base.

The wood retains a wonderfully weathered, timeworn surface with deep patina, visible grain, checking, surface wear, losses and irregularities associated with its previous life as an architectural element. The unfinished reverse particularly reveals the age and character of the salvaged wood.

The exact original architectural placement and age are unknown; however, the form and carving are consistent with vintage Indian architectural salvage that has been repurposed as sculptural decorative objects.

With its tall, narrow proportions and only a 9-inch-square footprint, this piece offers considerable visual impact without requiring much floor space. Beautiful as a freestanding decorative sculpture, candle stand, entryway accent or statement piece in an eclectic, global, bohemian, rustic or collected interior.

Condition

Good vintage condition with substantial age-related character and weathering consistent with architectural salvage.

The carved wood displays surface wear, checking, cracks/fissures, abrasions, losses, variations in coloration, worn edges and areas of erosion and deterioration. These characteristics are visible throughout and contribute to the aged appearance and patina of the piece.

The iron components show age-related surface variation and wear. Please review all photographs closely as they are considered an important part of the condition description.
