It is … Read more This very special small stainless steel hinged box is modernist in design and from the 80's.All hand crafted. It is by the engineer turned artist Stanley Scwarz who now is no longer living. His life span was 1928-2011. He was a Polish American artist who resided most of his life in Chicago.
His boxes were all salvaged stainless steel and all different in sizes and modernist designs. This was from his private collection that he did not sign before he passed away. He always used green felt inside and that was his signature clue. He was an industrial creative man always exploring. He was bending industry into objects that had folkloric forms filled with wonder, question and poetry of design. Some of his boxes were signed while others were not.
We have sold a plethora of his boxes and know them all to well. Most of them were one of a kind.
Very well made and executed. Great for a desk or console. See less
