A hand-carved soapstone vase in mottled russet and grey tones, with natural veining and warm reddish and taupe variations throughout, flared rim, ovoid body and elaborately pierced relief of chrysanthemum blossoms, leaves and branches winding around the neck and down the front of the vase. No maker’s mark.
