Ron McDowell is an award-winning American painter known for his dramatic use of light and form in depictions of the female figure, nocturnes, and the romance of dance. Raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming, within a family of artists and musicians, McDowell began exhibiting his work at age 15 before building a distinguished career across New Mexico and Colorado, expanding his technique across acrylics, watercolors, egg tempera, and oils. His paintings have been featured in major national publications like Art of the West and Southwest Art, showcased in prominent exhibitions such as the Eiteljorg Museum's "New West". In 2001, McDowell earned the top honor 'Best of Show' at the Northern Colorado Artists Association exhibition. Held in public and private collections nationwide—including the University of Texas Law School and the Coyte Library in Fort Collins, Colorado—McDowell currently paints and markets his art from his studio in Loveland, Colorado.
