Offered is a 2009 authorized reproduction Edition of Henri Matisse's portfolio, "Jazz". This was an authorized large format reproduction originally published by George Braziller in 1983 as a companion to an exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) with text translated from the French by Sophie Hawkes, and an introduction by Riva Castelman, art historian and curator of prints and illustrated books at the MoMA New York. This edition has a post script essay by Katrin Wiethege and additional references and documentation from Matisse's 1947 portfolio.
This is a facsimile of the original 1947 portfolio, including 20 color lithographs (15 double-page and 5 single-page), and handwritten text. The original 1947 edition was limited to 250 numbered copies.

This book was found in its original cellophane wrapper with the red banner to indicate it is the new edition - we removed this for photography. The book is in otherwise good condition, but we did find a brown mark on the paper edge that fortunately did not seep onto pages - (see detailed images). Any wear is commensurate with past handling. less
