Vintage Jugtown Ware pottery pitcher, made in North Carolina and dated 1993. This substantial hand-thrown pitcher features a softly variegated gray-taupe glaze with a hand-decorated floral motif in muted blue and brown tones.
The form has a generous rounded body, flared neck, pouring spout, and applied handle, giving it the understated character associated with traditional North Carolina studio pottery. The restrained palette and folk-inspired floral decoration make it particularly attractive as a decorative vessel displayed on a shelf, sideboard, kitchen hutch, or collected with other Southern studio pottery.
The underside is impressed 1993 and bears the circular Jugtown Ware pottery mark.
A lovely documented example of late-20th-century North Carolina pottery from one of the state’s best-known pottery traditions.
