Albisola, the small Ligurian coastal town near Savona, was the world capital of avant-garde ceramics in the twentieth century — attracting Lucio Fontana, Asger Jorn, Aligi Sassu and Enrico Baj to its kilns. Ceramiche San Giorgio was at the heart of this tradition, and Moiso's collaboration with the manufactory produced some of his most intimate and immediate works: the ceramic plate as a canvas, the glaze as paint.
