Presenting a substantial, original double-page centerfold spread by the acclaimed French Narrative Figuration artist Jacques Monory (1924–2018). This impressive piece was published in Paris in 1979 by the legendary Galerie Maeght for the premier art publication "Derrière le Miroir" (Issue No. 227), which accompanied Monory’s highly regarded "Technicolor" exhibition.
The front of this large spread features four distinct cinematic scenes. The top half showcases two vibrant color lithographs in Monory's signature hyper-saturated palette: a tense café scene illuminated in magenta and blue, and a dramatic poolside shooting rendered in hot orange and deep blue. Below these are two monochromatic compositions, including a female figure on a film set and a stark funeral scene. Together, they perfectly encapsulate Monory’s fascination with American crime imagery, film noir, and psychological tension.
The reverse side of this centerfold features four additional black-and-white catalog reproductions from the exhibition (noted as items 8, 21, 3, and 14). These surreal scenes depict a fisherman in a landscape, an elephant hunt, tigers roaming an elegant interior, and a group gathered near a racetrack. The presence of these catalog images on the reverse guarantees this piece is an authentic 1979 gallery printing and not a modern reproduction.
