The compact sculpture is carved from a substantial green and brown mottled stone with beautiful natural variation, veining, and a softly polished surface.

The figure has an elongated, highly stylized head with deeply carved eye, nose, mouth, and facial details. Sculptural forms along the opposite side add dimension and give the piece a distinctly modernist, organic quality. Its abstract composition changes considerably depending on the viewing angle, making it an especially interesting small-scale decorative object.

The exact stone, maker, and country of origin are unknown. The material appears consistent with serpentine or a similar dense decorative stone; however, the stone has not been professionally identified. The sculpture is unsigned.
