The lid features a finely hand-engraved armorial lion crest, symbolizing strength and nobility set against an exquisite engine-turned pattern that reflects light beautifully.

Measuring 2.75 inches wide, 1.5 inches deep, and 0.75 inch high, and weighing 65 grams, this solid sterling piece has a satisfying heft that speaks to its quality. The interior retains traces of its original gilt wash, a hallmark of fine English silversmithing. The hallmarks on the interior lid have been rubbed with time and are unreadable. This box likely dates to the early to mid 1800s. Good antique condition with signs of wear and handling. There is a small loss to the silver on the right corner.
