The slant lid exterior is above a double serpentine facade which is further decorated with herringbone inlays. The two shield shaped escutcheon plates are silver plated and engraved. When opened, the interior lid again has complex inlay featuring a central compass inlay. Each flatware slot is outlined with inlay. Circ 1785. See less
