Did you know that a horse and carriage symbolize a journey through life, romantic unions, traditional elegance, and the balance between physical drive and spiritual direction? Folks… let the journey BEGIN!! This is a GORGEOUS vintage Abstract Modern painting or wall art piece composed of wonderful watercolor or Chinese ink-wash on handmade rice paper beautifully mounted in a gorgeous gold anodized aluminum frame with an off-white linen matte featuring a lovely gold fillet surrounding the artwork. It bears his signature gold seal on the verso, and it is hand signed by artist John H. Chen on the front. This incredible piece depicts a stylized white horse galloping through a village pulling a traditional two wheeled rickshaw carriage hosting two figures surrounded by flowers, fish, a rooster, and Modern Abstract elements in vibrant colors of lavender, greens, blues, and deep reds. It is FANTASTIC!!! The artwork itself is about 12 x 12 and including the frame it’s about 19 x 19… so it’s not a huge piece but it is definitely going to make an eye-catching, striking statement on whichever wall in your home it is mounted! We are OBSESSED with its fascinating abstract aura… aren’t you??
John H. Chen is a Taiwanese American contemporary artist recognized for blending traditional East Asian ink techniques with modern abstract elements. He was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1939 and became a graduate of the prestigious National Taiwan Normal University of Fine Arts and then served as the Chief of the Fine Arts Department at a well-known conservatory for about ten years before taking his expertise around the world. He began in Costa Rica where he explored and painted for several years and exhibited his first one man show. In the 1980s his journey led him to the United States where he would raise his family and continue his artistic developments. He earned “Best in Show” award at the Plantation Art Show with his style of “OO-Siang Art” which literally means “formless art.” It is a combination and balance of Yin and Yan and harmony between human beings and nature. John Chen implements that philosophy in his pieces using Chinese ink-wash, acrylics, and oils on handmade rice paper.
Surely you have fallen in love with this magnificent piece by renowned artist John H. Chen. We certainly have. No need for this journey to end… Just make it YOURS!!!
