A charming pair of antique bronze bookends with a beautiful verdigris patina— the kind of warm, aged surface that only comes with time and can't be faked. They depicting a boy in a flat cap and a girl with bobbed hair, each rendered as a chubby-cheeked child standing atop a stacked-book base.
The figures stand approximately 6 inches tall, with hollow-cast bases and their original green felt bottoms. They read squarely as American work from the 1920s, in the beloved "child on a book" tradition produced by foundries like Armor Bronze, Pompeian Bronze, and Nuart.
Both bookends are in very good vintage condition with wear entirely consistent with their age — the patina shows natural variation and character throughout, adding to their charm rather. A wonderful find for collectors of early figural bookends or anyone drawn to that soft green oxidized bronze look. Sold as a pair.
