Dating to the 19th century, the petite cabinet features two tall raised-panel doors framed by layered molded surrounds and fitted with substantial hand-forged iron ring pulls, escutcheon and hardware.
The cabinet retains its rustic, vernacular character throughout, with wide solid-pine boards, visible hand craftsmanship, naturally aged surfaces, and an interior fitted with two shelves and a small lower drawer. The back and interior construction further reveal the substantial solid-wood construction and utilitarian origins of the piece.
The warm reddish-brown exterior has developed a handsome aged patina accented by areas of wear, minor losses and surface distress consistent with its age and history. The unusual iron carrying handles mounted to the sides add both visual interest and functional character. See less
