The silhouette alone is striking — a round, squat body narrowing to a tall neck finished with intricate braided leather wrapping, topped with a large leather-covered ball stopper. But it is the front that holds the eye. The brass coat of arms medallion is an applied piece of genuine metalwork — a knight's helmet with mantling at the top, an oval surround, and a shield divided diagonally with fleur de lis on both sides.
