Hand-thrown in the traditional Seagrove pottery tradition, the substantial covered vessel features a warm neutral glaze accented by hand-painted cobalt blue floral decoration. Small applied side handles, a beautifully fitted conical lid, and a hand-formed finial complete the classic form.

Both decorative and functional in origin, this early 1980s piece is an appealing example of North Carolina studio pottery and the continuing Owens family pottery tradition. It displays beautifully as a covered vessel on a kitchen shelf, dining-room sideboard, console, or within a collection of Southern pottery.
