A striking example of American Eastlake design, this three-piece parlor suite — a settee and two matching armchairs — is hand-carved from rich walnut, with the geometric incising, fretwork crest, and turned, reeded legs typical of the style's best work from the 1870s–80s.
This set has real provenance: for forty years it furnished the drawing room of the historic home at 1402 West Avenue. It has remained in the family ever since being acquired by Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd Doggett — devoted antique collectors — at an Austin, Texas estate sale. This matched Eastlake suite with a documented Austin history should be reupholstered.
